This article by author Walter Dean Myers is a great account of why we need books about people of color and what not having diverse books is currently doing to our society.

Disability in KidLit

This webpage provides excellent stories that positively highlights disabilities in children’s literature, something that we need more of. This is a great list to choose from and provides reasons why you need them in your collection.
